Yankee Doodle

CH: Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.

1. Fath'r and I went to camp,
Along with Captain Goodwin.
And there we saw the men and boys,
As thick as hasty puddin'.



2. And there we saw a thousand,
As rich as Squire David.
And what they wasted every day,
I wish it could be saved.

3. And there was Captain Washington,
Up on a slapping stallion,
A giving orders to his men,
I guess there was a million.

4. And then the feathers on his hat,
They looked so very fine, ah!
I wanted peskily to get,
To give to my Jemimah.

5 Yankee Doodle went to town,
Ah ridding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his hat,
And called it macaronie.
